Krones, a provider of machinery and solutions for the beverage, food and pharma industries, has spun-off its recycling division as an independent subsidiary company, Krones Recycling.
Under the management of Michael Gotsche, the new company will take over all of Krones’ activities related to plastics recycling. However, it will continue to leverage the company’s global production, sales and service network.
Krones CEO Christoph Klenk said: The spin-off will enable Krones Recycling to develop faster and in line with market requirements. This division makes a decisive contribution to protecting the environment by returning plastic waste to the value-added cycle.”
Krones Recycling has nearly 30 years of experience in plastics processing and almost 25 years in the field of recycling. The company already processes a wide range of plastics, including PET, PE, PP and PS on its lines worldwide.
“Our vision is to make a daily contribution to a global circular economy for all plastics by offering our customers sustainable and profitable recycling solutions,” said Gotsche.
The new company will benefit from leaner processes and structures, allowing it to respond more quickly to changes in the constantly evolving recycling market. At the same time, customers can continue to rely on Krones’ overall line expertise and global service network.
Krones Recycling will also continue to conduct intensive research into new innovations at its in-house Recycling Technology Centre, where it can test the recyclability of various plastics, including adhesives and colours, under real-world conditions on behalf of customers.
The spin-off is part of Krones’ broader sustainability strategy, with a goal of having at least 30% of the plastics processed on Krones lines returned to the cycle as a recycled resource.

This Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) approved project, developed for the English Mountain Spring Water Company, demonstrates the collective drive to push the boundaries of packaging technology.
