Former Orkla and Carlsberg executive Kasper Madsen will take over as the CEO and managing director of Viking Malt, the supplier of malt to the global brewing industry.

From 1 September, he will replace current managing director Antti Orkola, who will continue as a senior advisor for Viking Malt before retiring in February 2018.

As well as past experience with Carlsberg and Norwegian food company Orkla, Madsen has worked for logistics outfit Unifeeder and was most recently a member of the board at Nordic spirits company Altia.

Viking malt is the leading supplier of malt to breweries in Northern Europe and one of the global market leaders in supplying speciality malts to breweries and distilleries.

Headquartered in Lahti, Finland, it has operations across Baltic-neighbouring countries, including Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Lithuania. Its annual turnover is around €220 million.
